Job Description:

Managerial authority and support to all functional areas within Salisbury University Dining Services. This includes approval and oversight of program including menus, staffing, organization and compliance with regulatory bodies (Wicomico County Health Department, MD State Audit). The Associate Director is accountable for running quality operations that serve the campus community with a commitment to food safety, customer service, financial responsibility and productivity.

 

Authority and Accountability
Reporting directly to the UDS Director, direct reports include: Assistant Director – Retail, Assistant Director – Commons Dining, Human Resources Associate I, Production Manager, and Food Service Specialist - Concessions. This position has considerable responsibility for budget transaction analysis, and has spending authority for all UDS cost centers.

 

Required/Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality Management, or a related field.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal, customer service, organization and planning, prioritization, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral & written communication skills. Progressive responsibilities in managing employees and supervisory personnel. Also, must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously with minimal errors, and work well under pressure, independently, and in a team-oriented environment. Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, and transaction management (POS) systems.

 

Work Experience: Five to Seven years management experience in food service industry.

 

Credentials, Licenses, & Certifications: ServSafe Manager Certification, or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire date

 

Physical Requirements: Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally (occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. General office work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

 

Preferred Qualifications
Three years Residential Dining Hall Experience
